Real-Life Road safety Insights That Can Save Your Life (2)

One Thing We Promised Was to Give You Full Gist… As promised, here’s the next gist from our FRSC training. And trust me, this one will make you laugh small… but think even deeper.

Officer AC Eboh our FRSC trainer with correct sense of humor decided to open our eyes to something we all see every day but somehow ignore [Zebra crossing] She asked, “Who’s really at fault when a pedestrian and a driver clash at a zebra crossing?” Omo, everywhere scatter. Some said the driver, others said the pedestrian.

At that moment, we were like, “Hmm, is this a riddle?” But the shocking part? The woman just laughed and said, “In Nigeria, zebra crossing is mostly decoration.” 😂 And you know what? She’s not lying.

But deep down, most people don’t even know what it means. You know those black and white road tattoo stripes on the road that we treat like they’re just part of road decoration? Yup, that one.

Let’s Be Honest: We Dey Drive Like Action Film

Before you start pointing fingers at danfo and keke drivers, abeg calm down. This gist is for everybody private car owners, new Benz gang, ride-hailing drivers, and even you wey dey learn with L plate but still dey press horn anyhow.

In this Lagos, once you see zebra crossing, most drivers just zoom past like they’re in Fast and Furious: Lagos Drift. Nobody slows down. Nobody waits.

Even the pedestrian dey fear to step out. Because if you try it without looking twice, e fit be your last bold step.

Let’s switch lanes for a sec and talk about Lagos traffic. That One Na Another Episode.

Have you ever just sat in traffic and started asking yourself spiritual questions like, “Who did I offend?” or “Why is this jam always at my junction?”

Like, why is there traffic when we clearly don’t obey any of the road rules? What’s causing it? Is it accidents? Yes, sometimes. But have you also considered that just pure disobedience and impatience is enough to choke the entire city?

And this is not just about being late for work or missing appointments. Lives have been lost. Ask us how? Because of traffic.

Imagine you’re stuck in standstill traffic and God forbid, someone in the car needs emergency medical attention. Getting to the hospital becomes a battle. By the time you find a way, it might be too late.

Now, The Sad but True Part…Let bring it home a bit.

Do you know how many lives have been lost not because the hospital didn’t have doctors, but because they couldn’t even reach the hospital?

Traffic. Ordinary traffic.

Let’s even whisper this part: rumour has it Mohbad died on the way to the hospital because of Lagos traffic. (Who knows maybe we’d still have that talent with us today if things had been different.) Whether true or not, it won’t be the first time we’ve heard that kind of story.

Imagine being stuck in traffic and someone in your car is fighting for their life. But no one wants to give way, everyone’s honking, one driver even dey shout “commot road jare!” Oti ya werey.

Before you know it, one more light goes out. And that’s a real person. A real life. Gone. Just like that.

So… What’s the Takeaway From All This Gist?

At Strongmas Automobile, we’re not just about fixing cars and changing oil.

We’re about preserving lives. Helping you be a better, more conscious, more responsible driver not just for yourself, but for everyone around you.

So here’s what we’re saying, plain and simple:

  • Slow down near zebra crossings. People dey cross road too o.
  • Respect the road. That red light means STOP. Not “if I speed up now I fit beat am.”
  • Maintain your car. Don’t break down in the middle of Third Mainland and cause another four-hour hold up.
  • And most importantly drive like there’s a human life in every car. Because there is.

Before We Go…

You see that traffic we always complain about? That madness we’re now used to? It doesn’t have to be normal. Let’s stop normalizing nonsense.

The road is for all of us; you, me, the pedestrian, the Okada man, and even the roadside akara seller.

So if you’ve read up to this point, abeg, let the change start with you.

One More Thing (Because E Still Pain Us Small):
